이 블로그는 내부 e메일이나 MS 자료를 잘 공개하기로 유명합니다. 그런데 최근 MS 윈도 모바일 담당자가 업체들에게 재미있는 e메일을 보내 관심을 끌고 있네요.
제가 볼때 행간의 요점을 본 즉, Andy Lees MS 모바일 부분 부사장이 Windows Mobile Partners를 대상으로 “2000만 라이선스가 팔리는 등 우리도 잘 되고 있으니 너무 걱정하지 말라, 흔들리지 말라. 파이팅이다”는 감성을 담아 보냈습니다. 전형적인 ‘아이폰 견제’입니다.

MS는 원래 전통적으로 파트너와의 에코시스템을 가장 중요하게 생각하는 기업입니다. 그래서 파트너들이 뭔가 일을 진행하려고 할 때 선순환이라는 '결맹'을 중요하게 생각합니다. 우리 편이면 확실히 챙기는 반면, 이고리 밖의 기업들과는 독점 및 상호운용성 논란이 늘 일곤 합니다. 그래서 아마도 파트너들에게 우리도 아이폰만큼 잘 할 수 있다는 점을 재강조하고, 집안 단속을 하려는 것으로 보입니다. 뭐 제가 본 분석이 그렇다구요...^^
근데 이 e메일 문장들을 한번 더 되짚어 본 분이 계시는군요.

세아려 보니, 36가지나 되는군요. 재미있는 역발상을 해 볼 수 있습니다. “우리가 이런 장점들을 이미 가지고 있으니 아이폰과 경쟁이 가능하다”는 강조는, 곧 9일 발표될 3G 아이폰이 이런 우수한 특징들을 가지고 있을지도 모른다는 것을 반증하게 되는 셈입니다. 사실 알고 보면 별 쓸데없는 말장난 일 수 있겠습니다만, 한번 읽어 볼 말한 부분인 것 같습니다.
아래는 MS 모바일 부사장의 e메일 전문에 숫자를 붙여 본 자료입니다.

사족입니다만, 저는 윈도 모바일 운영체제 자체는 우수한 편인데, 파트너사들의 기기 경쟁력이나 마케팅 능력이 좀 달린다는 것이 제 생각입니다. 국내에도 사실 아이폰 정도 급은 얼마든지 누를 수 있다고 보는데... 삼성 블랙잭 같이 매번 먹통이나 되는 삽질 기기 말고, 'HTC 터치' 같은 걸 못써보는 게 아쉬울 뿐이죠. 아이폰만큼 경쟁력이 있는 제품인데~.
참고> 윈도 모바일 6.1을 채택하면서도 아이폰과 비슷한 터치플로 인터페이스를 채택한 HTC ‘터치 프로’(http://www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=49518) 를 지난 주 내놨죠. 기존 '터치'의 후속작입니다. 국내 통신사들은 망설이지 말고 이런 걸 먼저 들여 올 생각을 하시길.
