한국과 달리 홍콩에는 아이폰이 꽤 오래 전부터 판매 중이지요. 3G 아이폰은 지난해 중순부터 판매되기 시작했습니다.

Hutchison Telecom and Apple to bring iPhone™ 3G to Hong Kong on July 11

Hong Kong, 10th June 2008 - Hutchison Telecommunications International Limited ("Hutchison Telecom"; SEHK:2332; NYSE: HTX) and Apple today announced that the highly anticipated iPhone™ 3G will be available in Hong Kong on July 11, and in Macau shortly thereafter. iPhone™ 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone™ with 3G networking that is twice as fast* as the first generation iPhone™, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone™ 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs the hundreds of third party applications already built with the recently released iPhone™ SDK.

홍콩 시내 휴대폰 매장에서 팔리고 있는 아이폰입니다. 아주 고가폰 대열은 아닙니다. 페라리폰인가 그건 1만 HK달러가 넘는 경우도 봤습니다. 또, 일부 HD급 모델도 6000 HK달러가 넘더군요. 그것에 비해서는 8G가 5400달러, 16G가 6200달러 (약정 없는 조건) 이면... 물론 환율때문에 정상적인 건 아닙니다. 1HK달러에 180원 정도로 계산하시면 아이폰 한 대에 100만원에 육박한다는 걸 아실 수 있습니다.

그래서 서브스크립션.. 일명 약정으로 싸게 사는 것이겠지요. 한국도 12/24개월로 많이 사시죠? 영문 자료에서 볼 수 있듯이 홍콩의 아이폰 사업자는 허치슨 텔레콤이 운영하는 3HK라는 브랜드입니다. 그런데 요금제가 정말 환상적이네요.





498HK달러짜리 요금제를 24개월 쓰면 아이폰 8G 모델은 공짜입니다. 엄청난 현행 환율 수준으로 따져도 8만5000원 남짓입니다. 그런데 요금 규정이 무척 좋네요. 데이터요금 무제한, 음성통화 2200분, 가입자간 통화 1500분 무료, 문자메시지 무제한, 무선랜 무제한...

이 정도라면 월 498달러가 아깝지 않은데요? 너도나도 미친듯이 가입하지 않을까요? 한국에는 왜 이런 조건이 나오지 않는 걸까요?

홍콩에는 최근 한국 휴대전화가 돌풍입니다. 시장에 나가 보니 휴대폰 가게 전시 부스의 절반이 한국폰입니다. 예전에는 노키아와 소니에릭슨이 인기였고, 아이폰도 한번 바람이 불었지만, 지금은 한국폰이 대세라고 합니다. 그런데 이런 휴대폰 강국에서 내 놓는 데이터요금제와 음성통화 요금제를 본 홍콩 사람들은 무척 놀라지 않을까요.

(덧글 - 홍콩 사람들은 중고폰 매매가 활발해, 자주 사고 팔며 신제품을 즐긴다고 합니다. 야시장을 둘러 보니 길가에서 중고폰을 사고 파는 업자들이 매우 많았습니다.)
